Kirkham Henry Performing Arts CIO ( Charitable Incorporated Organisation)

Our activities are defined as “to provide benefit to people of all ages, abilities and social groups within the local community of Ryedale and North Yorkshire in general, as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

What is our role?

To promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the community of Ryedale and North Yorkshire in the arts of dance, mime, drama, music, fitness,well-being, senior citizens and all aspects of the performing arts through classes, workshops and performances.

Kirkham Henry provides a happy, friendly, disciplined, inclusive, accessible and focussed environment which allows its members both young and mature to flourish. The philosophy of the Centre is one of care and concern for each individual aiming to achieve the personal, recreational and vocational development of each member to the best of his/her ability.

How will the activity benefit the community?

The community will benefit by the fact that Kirkham Henry Performing Arts CIO contributes to the mental and physical health and well-being of it's members.
Be Healthy
The arts of drama, dance and music are very physical activities which promote energy and mental and emotional well-being and lead to a healthier lifestyle. Our adult classes are a fun way to increase strength and balance, enabling enjoyment through active and healthy lifestyle. Seated participation encouraged for the less mobile, reducing health inequalities and tackling inactivity through dance. Wheelchair users welcome.
Be Safe
Our younger members are welcomed to attend as many classes as they wish after school and all day Saturday each week, where they will be learning in a safe, secure and happy environment. Thus we help towards keeping young people in Ryedale and North Yorkshire off the streets, so what starts as a hobby can lead to a career in the many aspects of performing arts.
Be Happy
Our older members are encouraged to attend our many adult classes in, Tap, ballet, gentle dance and exercise, Dancing with Parkinsons and Dementia, Blind and partially sighted and Mencap. Keeping fit whilst being able to socialse with friends is an important part of keeping our wider community healthy and happy. Our Golden Gliders and Silver Swans are popular for the older age group but open to all adult ages.
